pennyPenny Paulgaard is an FEI rider, international instructor, trainer and the owner of Paulgaard Equestrian Center. She and her family have been building and expanding the facility since 1986.

Penny grew up in Vancouver, British Columbia, where her parents owned an equestrian centre. She started riding at age four and has been following this passion her entire life.. (As well as a career in the music industry) She has studied with Olympic riders and has shared the frustrations all riders do on their learning journey in dressage.

Over the many years of handling horses she has developed a training protocol that brings horses through their training in a subtle and slow process that culminates in a trusting, submissive, supple and successful athlete.

Penny has ridden to FEI Level successfuly and currently coaches in Canada and the United States. She has trained dozens of competitive horse and rider pairs. Her teaching skills have taken her to many destinations around the continent and has brought students to her home in Provost, Alberta, Canada.

Penny has developed a linear system, called the S.I.U.P System, fashioned after the classic military protocol of repitition and drills.

"Dressage success will come from knowledge, practice and discipline"

The system is designed to give you the knowledge to be able to go home and practice the details. You will not need a coach to watch your every step because you will use a system that pts you in charge of your practice.

Penny uses audio and visual aids in her clinics, she travels with state of the art video equipment used at every teaching session so the rider can gain immediate feedback and monitor their progress. Sessions include still pictures from the video footage.
