Domspatz :

DomspatzA large framed black horse Domspatz has been described by Claus Schridde ‘as the quintessence of loyal showjumper horses with a preparedness to perform.’
He was fortunate to begin his career at the Großenwörden showjumper station, where he managed to establish himself permanently in the mare base.

After this, he covered in Kehdingbruch in the Hadeln region, before he changed over to the Splietau showjumper station in the Hanoverian Wendland region. He was very popular with the Splietau breeders, where he remained until his death in 1978. Domspatz left behind a number of top quality horses for the international showjumping sport, including Dömitz (Gerd Wiltfang), Domspatz (Thomas Frühmann), Don Rudolpho (Franke Sloothaak and Michael Matz), Donath (Heinfried Simon), Dorillo (Hugo Simon) and many more.

His sons Domino, Domschatz and Don Rudolpho (also known as Dux Z), were privately owned and all competed successfully up to Advanced level. The bay Domino had great opportunities at the Paul Schockemöhle station and is found in a number of bloodlines. Dux Z was an active showjumper for a considerable time and covered in Uelzen, not far from his original home in the Wendland region, when he was older. He produced a surprisingly high number of top level showjumpers.

Another black stallion son, Diskus was the only Domspatz to go into the services of the Celle state stud. He also produced a number of first class showjumpers including Denizen (Tim Grubb), The Natural (a World Cup winner in 1987 with Katherine Burdsall) and Doreen (Tjark Nagel). Despite his time at Celle, Diskus did not really establish a male line. Two stallion sons, Diadem and Dupont were tried, and while Diadem produced a few nice dressage horses, no great showjumpers emerged. While Domspatz was unable to establish a male line, his blood is still highly regarded in the mare lines today, especially at the three stations at which he stood in his long career. As late at as 1981, on the official German FN figures of progeny winnings in the sport, Domspatz made it to 8th place in a very illustrious top ten (Gotthard, Ferdinand, Der Löwe xx, Furioso II, Grande, Ehrenschild, Sender, Domspatz, Perser xx, Ladykiller).

Wahnfried :

Wahnfried, was the winner of the German St. Leger, the popular Sacramento Song xx/Wahnfried cross produced numerous other dams of approved stallions, as well as Olympic showjumper, Sandro.

Sacramento Song xx :

sacremento SongServiced for 7 seasons as a private stallion in Holstein. He is viewed as one of the best sires of show jumpers in Holstein since the war. In spite of a very limited number of off-spring, 40 jumpers were successful up to the highest classes, among them exceptional horses such as Societe (D. Hafemeister, Nelson Pessoa), San Siro (G. Muller, winnings over 30,000 DM) and Sandro with Franke Sloothaak.

According to that great expert on Holstein breeding, Jasper Nissen in a fascinating article in Z Magazine (August 2004), “Sacramentro Song’s career in Holstein seriously suffered from the fact that he was not studbook owned but privately owned and was active precisely in the period in which the Thoroughbred had fallen into complete disgrace with the studbook. In addition, he was stationed in not the best breeding district. Nevertheless he soon proved himself a top class sire.He produced a large number of first class showjumping horses, several event horses, no dressage horses.

He often passed on his own type. He was a purebred bay, often with a dark shade, he produced tall horses, somewhat light in the bones, with an excellent character and eager workers with an energetic temperament, often a little hot. Geldings and stallions lasted longer in the sport than his daughters, who often needed ‘instructions for handling’. Many of his daughters however, proved quality broodmares. Unfortunately his only licensed son, Symphatico (licensed for his results in showjumping) died after one breeding season. Another son who proved himself in the sport was Sandro, stationed in Oldenburg.”
Certainly it is through Sandro that the line is becoming increasingly influential – both in jumping and in dressage most recently with the dressage phenomenon Sandro Hit.

Sicambre :

SicanderBorn 1948. Nine races, won eight, one place. Sicambre was the leading sire of winners in 1966 (at the age of 18!) and the following year was runner up to his son, Prince Taj. He was ranked three times amongst the top ten sires of broodmares. His sons were influential throughout the world: Shantung in Britain, Prince Taj and Roi Dagobert in the USA, Moutiers in Japan, Cambremont in the Argentine, Sertorious in Chile, Pharamond in Australia.

Senator :

SenatorA handsome stallion and although he was only medium sized, his appearance was one of generous proportions, with correct conformation, ample neck and shoulders, good hooves and excellent motion. In short, Senator was a handsome stallion of such excellent type seldom seen in the mid 50's.

He produced 40 approved sons, mostly show jumpers. Senator‘s most significant stallion sons were undoubtedly Sender, Sesam 1 and with a few reservations, perhaps Senat.
